Environmental Approach - Synagri

Synagri

Environmentally friendly initiatives

Our goal is to always improve our services and mobilize our various stakeholders by offering information, training, and by promoting responsible practices.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO MINIMIZE OUR DAILY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We care about our planet, therefore we set up a committee to develop strategies to minimize our waste, establish and improve recycling programs, and reduce our ecological footprint.

We are driven by our values using the means and resources available to improve the environmental aspects of our workplaces over which we have control, because now and more than ever before, we are committed to making our contribution.

Our teams are committed to this major shift supported by our IT department

  • Electronic pay stubs – HR
  • Electronic payments and invoices – Finance
  • Electronic production and delivery orders – Operations
  • Digital communication and advertising – Marketing

Everyone’s commitment

  • Reduction of our residual materials. Elimination of single-use items (coffee pods, milk cups).
  • Eco-responsible consumption. Increased recovery of ink cartridges and recyclable materials.

We strongly encourage agricultural producers to switch to precision farming

Producing more with less is the motto of precision farming. The ultimate goal is to improve yields and reduce the potential environmental risks of farming activities. Every day, our experts work closely with our advisers, clients, partners and colleagues to select and develop digital tools and solutions that promote the proper management of agricultural plots.

DEVELOPING OUR FERTILIZER BIG BAGS

BENEFITS FOR BOTH AGRICULTURAL PRODUCERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

For a company to evolve in a healthy way in a context of sustainable development and contribute to viable change, human ingenuity is essential. At Synagri, our people are the most important resource to help us fulfil this mission. Together, we have developed single-strap bags for fertilizer to optimize production, human safety, delivery, product quality and handling efficiency on the farm.

  • Reduce unloading time by 50%
  • Ensure autonomy and minimize the risk of accident, both for storage and for application in the field
  • Eliminate the use of pallets for transport, which represents an annual reduction of over 500 metric tons of wood, a great way to help our forests
  • Recyclable bags

We proudly work collaboratively with Cleanfarms, a non-profit environmental stewardship organization

Cleanfarms is a non-profit organization dedicated to eco-responsibility through the proper recovery of empty pesticide and fertilizer containers. They offer programs for the management of agricultural plastics and other inorganic wastes from Canadian farms.

PROMOTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A RIPARIAN STRIP

IN OUR VIEW, PROMOTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A RIPARIAN STRIP SURPASSES THE REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS ON FARMS

A riparian strip is much more than a simple blend of herbaceous and woody plants. It provides several ecological and economical benefits.

Undertaking the restoration of a riparian strip is not a trivial thing. It is one of the most important actions we can engage in to ensure the water quality of lakes and rivers.

In fact, for farmers, it also controls soil erosion, it filters pollution, and it is an efficient ecosystem that fosters flora and fauna. It also serves as a visual landmark, and it helps reduce certain costs.

For all these reasons, our Aspiring Farmers Program (a financial program that helps ten young farmers per year) strongly encourages them to include this environmental component in their project to increase their chances for acceptance.

We believe in making the world a better place

Promoting the reduction of polluting emissions is part of our approach to improving the health of our planet.

We implemented an initiative in 2020: two electric terminals were made available to our employees and visitors for their vehicles, which is another step in the right direction for the environment.
