Job Title: General Manager (Business Development & Sales Focus)

Status: Full-Time, Permanent Position

Location: Massena, NY, USA

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, or related field, with minimum 3 years of management paired with 7 years of sales experience in the agricultural sector

Work Arrangement:  primarily remote work with frequent travel and meetings. Frequent travel: approximately 15,000–20,000 miles per year,with company vehicle provided.

OVERVIEW

The General Manager will lead the company’s U.S. operations, with a primary focus on driving sales growth and business development. The role includes supervising two sales representatives and playing a key role in strengthening the company’s presence and relationships within the U.S. agricultural market.

Additionally, the General Manager will oversee general management activities, manage orders, and ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the U.S. division.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales, Business Development & Leadership (primary focus)

  • Lead sales and business development efforts in the U.S. agricultural market, focusing on growth, client relationships, and new market opportunities.
  • Supervise and support two field sales representatives, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s mission, vision, and values within the U.S. team and customer network.
  • Understand the customer journey through the supply and distribution chains and monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes that may impact the business.
  • Represent the company at industry events, associations, and public forums relevant to the agricultural sector.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and ensure business objectives are met.

Sales’ Operations & General Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the U.S. division, including order management and coordination with Canadian head office functions.
  • Act as point of contact for external accounting consultants.
  • Participate in biannual board meetings in Canada and provide updates on U.S. operations.
  • Ensure a smooth transition and knowledge transfer with the outgoing General Manager over the one-year mentorship period.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, agriculture, or relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience
  • 7 years of sales experience in the agricultural sector
  • Agronomist title is an asset
  • Native English speaker, French is an asset
  • Good knowledge of SAP Business is an asset
